Judea and Samaria District Police has released two minors held for two weeks as suspects for “Price Tag” vandalism incidents against Palestinians in the West Bank.
Neither suspect was brought before a judge. One of them was denied access to an attorney for much of his time in custody.
One suspect was arrested in Yitzhar, the other in Bnei Brak, and the authorities initially clamped a gag order on news of their arrests. A third suspect in the case, also a minor, from Jerusalem, was also arrested, and released several days later.
Police say they are still investigating.
“This is yet another failure of the Shin Bet and Police, but this particularly stinging failure considering that we had thought that both the police and the Shin Bet were trying to move their efforts up a notch. It’s a badge of shame for the legal system and prosecutors, and therefore any joy (at progress made) is mixed with sadness,” Adi Kedar, an attorney for one of the minors, from the Honenu organization, said.

“I hope such instances won’t recur, the lies and innocent people getting arrested, which the public ought to know about and take heed,” Kedar said.
Additional Price Tag incidents were reported while the young men were in custody. At the weekend several dozen bushels of harvested Palestinian wheat was torched and the slogan “stop the agricultural terrorism” was found scribbled nearby. Vehicles were also vandalized and slogans were daubed on walls in the village of Husan.
