Dudi Sela advances to Shenzhen Open quarterfinal

Dudi Sela advanced to his first ATP Tour quarterfinal in almost nine months on Thursday, defeating third seed and world No. 26 Mischa Zverev 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 in the Shenzhen Open in China.

The 32-year-old Israeli, ranked No. 77 in the world, hasn’t played in the last-eight of an ATP Tour event since reaching the semifinals of the Chennai Open in India in the first week of January.

Sela faces Alexandr Dolgopolov (53) of Ukraine for a place in the semis on Friday. The Israeli has asked for the tie to begin as early as possible to ensure it will end before the start of Yom Kippur in China.
