The Most Exciting Android Oreo Feature Isn't Even Here Yet

Android Oreo is here but its best feature is not. We talk about all things Android Oreo having used it for around a week and there are many surprising entries there. Android enthusiasts Roydon Cerejo and Aditya Shenoy join host Pranay Parab for this episode. The episode begins with talk about one of the most immediately noticeable features of Android Oreo, which may not be a big deal for some, but for many others it makes a huge difference. Aditya is barely able to contain his excitement while talking about this feature.

Roydon then picks his favourite feature of Android Oreo, which is surprisingly more technical than you’d expect. He goes into detail about some new audio related features and talks about how people will benefit from this one. This is the part of the podcast where we geek out and at the same time explain how it makes a difference to your life.

Then we talk about Android Oreo’s performance improvements and security features. It’s now much easier to install apps from unknown sources on Android Oreo, but do you really need to do that? We discuss whether there is a future to apps installed from outside of Google Play. We talk about the differences between App Store and Google Play, and whether there is actually a need for installing apps from outside. We also look at the future and wonder where this is going.

Finally we talk about which smartphones will get Android Oreo and whether there is reason for people to be excited about the platform. We talk about which phones have the OS and which ones are likely to get it, and whether there’s any point in expecting it to arrive on budget Android smartphones.

That’s all for this week’s episode of Orbital, which you can subscribe to via Apple Podcasts or RSS, or just hit the play button below.
