Can Dera Chairperson Vipassana lead Haryana Police to Honeypreet?

After weeks of failed attempts to nab Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s foster daughter Honeypreet Insan, who has been on the run since August 25, all hopes of the Haryana Police are now pinned on Vipassana Insan, the chairperson of the Dera.

Soon after Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s conviction, rumour mills were abuzz with names for the rightful successor to the Dera throne. Honeypreet’s was the one name that found prominence in this regard, but often by her own speak.

During this discourse, it was Dera Sacha Sauda Chairman Vipassana Insan, who blatantly punctured Honeypreet’s dreams to inherit her foster parent’s kingdom.

“Honeypreet has nothing to do with Dera affairs. She has no stake in Dera which will continued to be run as per practice. None of the family members have so far been declared as the legal heirs,” Vipassana Insan had said in an interview.

The Haryana Police, so far clueless on the whereabouts of Honeypreet Insan, will now question Vipassana apart from 25 other members of the Dera Management Committee to get some lead on the absconding Papa’s Angel.

WHY IS HARYANA POLICE LOOKING FOR HONEYPREET?

A lookout notice was issued against Honeypreet Insan after a sect functionary Surinder Dhiman Insan’s testimony revealed that she conspired an escape plan for Gurmeet Ram Rahim on the day of his sentencing.

Honeypreet’s whereabouts continue to remain a mystery, even after a slew of raids were conducted along the Indo-Nepal border and at the houses of her relatives in Delhi.

A police team was also sent to Gauri Phanta area in Lakhimpur Khiri district of Uttar Pradesh to trace her after a Punjab registered vehicle was spotted by police there. However, the police returned empty handed. Later, Dera a follower Satpal Singh, who runs a chemist shop and diagnostic centre in Sector 20 Panchkula, was also detained on charges of helping Honeypreet, but was released after a couple of days as the police could not get any lead from him.

IS GURMEET TRYING TO KILL HONEYPREET?

Reports suggesting that Gurmeet’s adopted daughter might have run off to Nepal, in face of threat to her life in India, also made headlines.

According to an intelligence report, Honeypreet could be killed as she is witness to a number of Dera secrets. If not the Baba himself, his henchmen can mastermind her murder to get rid of her.

Honeypreet was last seen on August 29 when Gurmeet Ram Rahim was sentenced to 20 years in jail. She had flown with Ram Rahim to the Sunaria Jail in Rohtak. She wanted to stay with Ram Rahim. However, the Sunaria jail authorities had turned down the request. Then she went to Karnal and stayed the night at a dera follower’s house. Her whereabouts are not known thereafter.
