The Israeli Paralympic swimming team, which is composed of six members, is heading back to Israel after the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) postponed the games after massive 7.1 magnitude earthquake in Mexico-City claimed hundreds of lives and badly damaged the Mexican capital on Tuesday.
The games that were cancelled are the World Para Swimming and the World Para Power-lifting Championships.
One of the athletes that will now be returning is noted swimmer and nine medals holder Inbal Pezaro, winner of the 2008 Jerusalem Post “Athlete of the Year” title.
Other team members included Arab-Israeli swimmer Iaad Shalabi, Mark Milar, Mor Museri, Veronica Girenko and Yulia Gordichock.
The Israeli swimmers shot a video following the earthquake in which they state that they are well and wish everyone a happy Jewish New year.
