Israeli police up security ahead of Rosh Hashana

“Police units, border police and patrol units will [put an] emphasis [on] security measures at public places, synagogues and in Jerusalem’s Old City and the Western Wall,” police foreign press spokesman stated on Wednesday ahead of Rosh Hashana.

Thousands of people are expected to visit the Old City of Jerusalem from Wednesday until Saturday, and police units will be in all areas until after this weekend.

“Police units will respond if necessary to any incidents in order to make sure the new year festival passes according to the assessments made, and the areas are safe during this period,” the statement read.
