Honey Festival


Apiaries across Israel open their doors to the public for a chance to meet beekeepers and their charges. Taste different types of honey, bake honey cakes, ride on a tractor and take part in workshops to learn about the important role bees play in the environment. This year, the Mordechai Apiary in Moshav Gilat, in the western Negev, is launching a BEEBAR honey bus, an educational initiative to teach people about beekeepers and honey (advance registration is required: 052-777-2291). Nonprofit Lecture Series


Citizens for Refugee Children, an organization helping the children of African refugees in south Tel Aviv, is offering a series of lectures in aid of their work, given by influential Israeli speakers. This week: Writer Etgar Keret will read from his books and talk about the backdrop to his stories, when he began writing and how he developed his unique style. In Hebrew. Sun at 20.00. The Museum for the Art of Puppetry

Science Night


The Bloomfield Science Museum hosts Night of the Scientists, a one-off event taking place around the country on Tuesday under the theme “Humanity in 2050.” Scientists from different fields of research will discuss the future of science technology, as well as current scientific developments and discoveries (16.00-22.00). During the event, there will be toy-making workshops (ages 10+) and a workshop on wearable technology (ages 8+); building with LEGOs; an open science laboratory (ages 5-10); and a science demonstration “Sunrise on Mars” (ages 5+) at 18.30, 19.30, 20.30. Biblical Museum of Natural History


Showcasing mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and insects featured in the Hebrew Bible, the museum also functions as a zoo, natural history museum and Torah education center. Tower of David Museum


Home to the Museum of the History of Jerusalem, the Tower of David features a permanent exhibit about the city’s history and its significance to three religions. The tower itself is an archaeological site and offers a 360-degree view of the Old City of Jerusalem. It also stages temporary exhibits that connect ancient history with contemporary themes, and hosts lectures, guided tours and other cultural events.
