Kalinga Utkal Express derailment: 4 railway officials suspended



Amid reports that the Kalinga Utkal Express derailed due railway officers’ negligence, four Railway Board has suspended four railway officers and transferred one.   


Based on the prima facie evidence, as instructed by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, Northern Railway GM RK Kulshreshtra, Railway Board Member Engineering Aditya Mittal and Divisional Railway Manager Delhi RN Singh have been sent on leave.


Earlier today an audio clip went viral hinting at the alleged negligence on the part of railway workers on the site.


The audio clip is a conversation between a gateman and railway official about the broken track that needed welding. No red flag was shown to the train to caution them about the danger ahead.


Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh anti-terror squad denied any terror angle to the derailment.


The accident occurred on Saturday evening around 5.45 pm leading to death of over 22 passengers and injuring over 100 passengers.
