Thieves bash Brisbane home owner with his own baseball bat

A man has been bashed with a baseball bat when he confronted two men who broke into his inner city Brisbane home.

The men smashed a window with a hammer to get into the Balmoral home early on Monday.

The man who was at home confronted the pair with a baseball bat, but the thieves grabbed the bat and used it to assault him.

They stole cash, watches and car keys but were unable to start the car and fled on foot.

The 30-year-old man who was assaulted was treated by paramedics for swelling and bruising.
