Hemanth Kumar, a software engineer who works in Bengaluru, came home in the wee hours of Friday morning after work. As his wife Renuka and two children were sleeping in their bedroom, Hemanth decided to sleep in the next room.
When Hemanth woke up around 6 30 am, 34-year-old Renuka failed to respond to his repeated calls. When he peeped through the window, Hemanth, to his horror, saw his wife and two daughters hanging.
The incident happened in Ulsoor on Thursday night, say reports.
Renuka used to work as a lab technician in a private company and hanged her two daughter- 6-year-old Nishita and 10-month-old Pavani, before she took her own life. According to reports, Renuka took the extreme step owing to financial troubles.
Reports say that they had bought the house by taking a loan of Rs 35 lakh and was having financial troubles, as the duo found it difficult to manage their finances. Renuka used to be worried about the future of their children considering their financial standing, Hemanth told police.
“Renuka constantly worried about her daughters’ future and asked Hemanth what would happen if the situation continued. All their earnings were going towards paying interest. She thought there would be no savings for the children, and hence took the step,” a police officer told The Times of India.
The police also recovered a suicide note, in which Renuka has reportedly not named anyone as responsible for her death.
However, Renuka’s family has alleged harassment at the hands of Hemanth, as the reason for Renuka’s untimely death.
In another case, a woman from Jaraganahalli threw her 7-year-old daughter from the terrace of their building, after which, the child passed away.
